Please Pray this Novena to St. Rita –

    TRADITIONAL PRAYER TO SAINT RITA

O Holy Patroness of those in need, St. Rita, whose pleadings before thy Divine Lord are almost irresistible, who for thy lavishness in granting favors hast been called the Advocate of the Hopeless and even of the Impossible; St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so mortified, so patient and of such compassionate love for thy Crucified Jesus that thou couldst obtain from Him whatsoever thou askest, on account of which all confidently have recourse to thee expecting, if not always relief, at least comfort; be propitious to our petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy suppliant; be lavish to us, as thou hast been in so many wonderful cases, for the greater glory of God, for the spreading of thine own devotion, and for the consolation of those who trust in thee.

We promise, if our petition is granted, to glorify thee by making know thy favor, to bless and sing thy praises forever. Relying then upon thy merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus, we pray thee grant that [here mention your request].

By the singular merits of thy childhood,
    Obtain for us our request.
By thy perfect union with the Divine Will,
    Obtain for us our request.
By thy heroic sufferings during thy married life,
    Etc.
By the consolation thou didst experience at the conversion of thy husband,
By the sacrifice of thy children rather than see them grievously offend God,
By the miraculous entrance into the convent,
By thy severe penances and thrice daily bloody scourgings,
By the suffering caused by the wound thou didst receive from the thorn of thy Crucified Savior,
By the Divine love which consumed thy heart,
By that remarkable devotion to the Blessed Sacrament,
on which alone thou didst exist for four years,
By the happiness with which thou didst part from thy trials to join thy Divine Spouse,
By the perfect example thou gavest to people of every state of life.

Pray for us, O holy St. Rita, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

    LET US PRAY.

O God, Who in Thine infinite tenderness hast vouchsafed to regard the prayer of Thy servant, Blessed Rita, and dost grant to her supplication that which is impossible to human foresight, skill and efforts, in reward of her compassionate love and firm reliance on Thy promise, have pity on our adversity and succor us in our calamities, that the unbeliever may know Thou art the recompense of the humble, the defense of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in Thee, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

    NOVENA TO ST. RITA

O holy protectress of those who art in greatest need, thou who shineth as a star of hope in the midst of darkness, blessed Saint Rita, bright mirror of God’s grace, in patience and fortitude thou art a model of all the states in life. I unite my will with the will of God through the merits of my Savior Jesus Christ, and in particular through his patient wearing of the crown of thorns, which with tender devotion thou didst daily contemplate. Through the merits of the holy Virgin Mary and thine own graces and virtues, I ask thee to obtain my earnest petition, provided it be for the greater glory of God and my own sanctification. Guide and purify my intention, O holy protectress and advocate, so that I may obtain the pardon of all my sins and the grace to persevere daily, as thou didst in walking with courage, generosity, and fidelity down the path of life. [Mention your request.]

Saint Rita, advocate of the impossible, pray for us.
Saint Rita, advocate of the helpless, pray for us.

Recite the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be three times each.

    Prayer Before Surgery
Loving Father, I entrust myself to your care this day; guide with wisdom and skill the minds and hands of the medical people who minister in your Name, and grant that every cause of illness be removed, I may be restored to soundness of health and learn to live in more perfect harmony with you and with those around me. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Into your hands, I commend my body and my soul. Amen.

    For Healing
Lord, You invite all who are burdened to come to You. Allow your healing hand to heal me. Touch my soul with Your compassion for others. Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch my mind with Your wisdom, that my mouth may always proclaim Your praise. Teach me to reach out to You in my need, and help me to lead others to You by my example. Most loving Heart of Jesus, bring me health in body and spirit that I may serve You with all my strength. Touch gently this life which You have created, now and forever. Amen.

    Prayer for Doctors and Nurses
O merciful Father, who have wonderfully fashioned man in your own image, and have made his body to be a temple of the Holy Spirit, sanctify, we pray you, our doctors and nurses and all those whom you have called to study and practice the arts of healing the sick and the prevention of disease and pain. Strengthen them in body and soul, and bless their work, that they may give comfort to those for whose salvation your Son became Man, lived on this earth, healed the sick, and suffered and died on the Cross. Amen.

    Prayer for Healing
Lord, look upon me with eyes of mercy, may your healing hand rest upon me, may your lifegiving powers flow into every cell of my body and into the depths of my soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring me to wholeness and strength for service in your Kingdom. Amen.

    Prayer for Healing
O God who are the only source of health and healing, the spirit of calm and the central peace of this universe, grant to me such a consciousness of your indwelling and surrounding presence that I may permit you to give me health and strength and peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

    Prayers to Mary ~
    The Memorare

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone
    who fled to your protection,
    implored your help,
or sought your intercession was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, we turn to you,
O Virgin of virgins, our Mother.
To you we come, before you we stand,
    sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
    do not despise our petitions,
but in your mercy hear us and answer us.
    Amen.

    Hail Holy Queen
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope!
    To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping
    in this valley of tears.
    Turn then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
    and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
    Amen

    Prayers of Fatima
“O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy”.
(Our Lady at Fatima, 13th July 1917)

“My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You. I beg pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You.”

    Dear Beverly and Carol:

Although I’ve never met you Beverly, I feel as though I know you from your Mom and this blog. You are looking wonderful considering surgery was just a week ago. Before you know it you will be up and about, moving those legs and hands and all of this will be far behind you.
I remember when I had my double knee replacement surgery (both done the same day)I did not think I would ever be able to walk or stand again, but PT is amazing and those exercise’s do work….don’t let te bad stuff in, just God and healing..that is all you need.
Your Mom is one special lady, you are blessed to have her, but you know that already. :-) She is a real trooper and she and I ran the Division office for a while. I pray that God will continue to mend and heal your spinal column,to restore your strength and give you inner peace to get you through this time. What doesn’t break us only makes us strong. God takes care of his children, and he will take care of you. Carol, let me know if I can do anything for you!
    Love,
    Joan

Hi Beverly, I didn’t know you had health issues and were having this procedure. Sorry I didn’t take the time to ask you how you were feeling before you left. I heard about this web site from another coworker. After reading your story it looks like you have some challenges ahead but are in real good hands. (Great blogging, mom!). When you get back in the office I will stop by for a visit. Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

  10. Keep up the good work! We enjoy being able to check up on your recovery without having to bother your mom. Hope tomorrow will bring a better day day and you have a good weekend. Glad to hear the nurses are nice but sorry the food sounds like it has a lot to be desired.

Hey Bev. Glad to see you are making progress. Congrats on walking the parallel bars and using the walker. With you out, I don’t get as many visitors (well, people who are really looking for you).

You’re in my prayers. Keep on fighting.

  12. Sounds like mom fixed you a great dinner! I know you appreciated that. Sounds like you have made some progress but I know it’s been slow as far as your concerned. We keep you in our thoughts and prayers so hopefully soon you’ll be getting back home and feeling stronger. Talk to you later in the week.

Today I will take Beverly downstairs in the hospital for Mass at 4:00 pm. This is our special time for the Lord.
I also will add a special pray for a Dear Love one who has been under going surgery for skin cancer. My sweet Sonny Woods. Please take a few minutes today an on Sunday to pray that the skin cancer will heal and leave his body. Sonny is a good husband and father and most of all a true friend to everyone. Give him back his health cancer FREE life to share with us. Please Lord take care of Bev and Sonny and include them in your healing. Also, bless Charlotte and the rest of the Woods family helping to care for Sonny. Charlotte is a caring wife and mother who cares very much for her family. Charlotte keep strong and continue to show the love for Sonny that you do everyday. Each day is a new beginning and with the help of Our Lord and Prayers they both will survior.
God is great and he has proven that to me over and over each day. Each day he gets me to/from the hospital to care for Beverly. He gives me strength and courage to carry on. It’s nice to have a wonderful God on your side.
God Bless you all and keep praying.
